About

Maddie Massy

From a young age I’ve loved telling stories and understanding how our bodies work, and didn’t realise I could combine the two until much later!

I began as a biology student and then researcher, doing things like: looking for bacteria trapped in Antarctic ice, studying the inner life of gut parasites (it’s even grosser than you think), and trying to understand how tumours grow. What always interested me most was finding creative ways to communicate and share my research with other scientists and the public.

Now, telling science stories is my full-time job. I work as a science communicator, presenter and social media creator. Spot me sharing science videos on TikTok and Instagram, presenting and MC’ing at events, writing articles and helping others to build their science communication and social media skills.

My mission is to connect people, particularly the younger generations, with the science that underpins all of our lives. And I’m always looking for new and fun ways to do that!
